Frequently Asked Questions

General

We're based in Fort Worth and serve surrounding areas including Arlington, Keller, Benbrook, and parts of the DFW Metroplex. If you're outside that range, reach out — we'll see if Hank can make it happen.
We specialize in small to mid-sized home repairs: TV mounting, fence and gate fixes, appliance swap outs, drywall patches, painting, gutter cleaning, hardware updates, and more.
Your payment reserves your time slot and ensures your job is taken seriously. We don't double-book or overextend. Once you're on the schedule, that time belongs to you — and your tech is prepping for your job in advance.
No problem. Just give us at least 24 hours' notice and we'll move your appointment at no charge. Less than 24 hours may result in a fee, but we're always happy to work with you.
Nope. We bring what tools we need for the job unless you've requested something specific or provided your own fixtures or appliances (like a wall mount or light).
Yes. Once your booking is confirmed, you'll get the name of your technician — and you can always reach out with questions. All techs are background-checked and trained the HandyHawk way.
Sometimes. It depends on availability, but we do our best to accommodate urgent needs. If you're in a bind, just reach out directly or select "Urgent" when booking.
Yes — HandyHawk Care Plans are available for homeowners, landlords, and property managers. Three tiers starting at $79/month. See handyhawk.net/care for details.
Yes — while we recommend using the online booking system for speed and accuracy, you can always call or text us and we'll get you scheduled.
We show up. We follow through. And we communicate. Our system is designed to take the guesswork out of home repair — and our mascot Hank makes sure the job is done right.

Pricing & Booking

HandyHawk uses time-based flat-rate pricing — no hourly surprises. Every job starts at $179 for a Quick Fix (1 hour). If your job takes longer, it steps up to Standard (2 hours, $329), Half-Day (4 hours, $529), or Full-Day (8 hours, $749). Hank quotes the right tier upfront so you know what you're paying before anyone picks up a tool.
HandyHawk doesn't charge a separate Service Call fee — every visit is a booked appointment starting at $179. For jobs with unknown scope (major damage, unclear plumbing issues, larger outdoor projects), Hank may need to see the job in person before giving a firm price. In those cases, the visit is a paid assessment that counts toward your job if you move forward.
Simple. If Hank is late to your appointment, you get $50 off your job — no questions asked, no paperwork. We show up when we say we will. If something unusual happens and we don't, you shouldn't have to pay full price.
No. The price you see is the price you pay. Travel is included — no fuel surcharges, no mileage fees. HandyHawk serves Fort Worth and surrounding DFW communities at the same flat rates regardless of where you are in the service area.
We accept all major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay — processed securely through Stripe. Full payment is collected at booking. If the scope changes on-site, you'll be notified before any additional charges are applied.
Payment is collected upfront when you book — this secures your time slot and ensures Hank is prepared for your specific job. If the scope changes on-site (job takes longer, additional work added), Hank will walk you through the updated cost before proceeding. You decide whether to continue. No surprise charges after the fact.
Hank will tell you before he goes over time, not after. If a Quick Fix turns into a Standard job, he stops and walks you through what changed and what it costs — you decide whether to continue or stop there. Think of it like a change order: nothing additional happens until you approve it. No surprise charges.
Just ask. If you have additional items on your list that came up during the appointment, Hank can extend to the next tier if his schedule allows. Call or text (682) 413-8998 to discuss. Same-day extensions aren't always possible, but we'll do our best.

Services

Time. A Quick Fix is 1 hour at $179 — enough for a single focused task like a TV mount, faucet swap, or small drywall patch. A Standard is 2 hours at $329 — for jobs that need more time, like a larger drywall repair, a fan install with complications, or multiple small tasks in one visit. Hank quotes the right tier when you book.
Light electrical, yes. Hank swaps out light fixtures, ceiling fans, and similar fixture replacements on existing wiring. New circuits, panel work, or anything that requires an electrical permit — that needs a licensed electrician, and Hank will tell you so upfront. He won't touch work that isn't safe for him to do.
Light plumbing, yes. Hank replaces faucets, toilets, garbage disposals, supply valves, and handles standard fixture swaps and repairs. New plumbing lines, drain work, or anything requiring a plumbing permit — that needs a licensed plumber. Hank knows the line and won't cross it.
In scope: assembly, installations, repairs, drywall, painting, light plumbing (fixture swaps and repairs), light electrical (fixture swaps), outdoor projects, accessibility modifications, and junk removal. Out of scope: new circuits or panel work (licensed electrician required), new plumbing lines or permitted drain work (licensed plumber required), full remodels or structural work (licensed contractor required). When in doubt, ask — Hank gives honest answers and will point you to the right person if he's not it.
HandyHawk serves Fort Worth and 20 surrounding DFW communities including Arlington, Keller, Benbrook, Grand Prairie, North Richland Hills, and more. If you're on the edge of the service area or slightly outside it, reach out — Hank will let you know whether he can make it work. No false promises either way.
Sometimes. HandyHawk focuses on residential, but Hank has done work for small commercial spaces, offices, and rental properties. It depends on the job type and location. Call or text to describe the project and we'll tell you straight whether it's a fit.
Yes — any brand, any retailer. IKEA, Wayfair, Amazon, Pottery Barn, Ashley, Costco, or the random box that showed up with 87 pieces and no English instructions. If it came in a box with hardware, Hank can put it together. He's seen all of it.

Scheduling & Day-Of

Most jobs can be booked 1–3 days out. For non-urgent work, a few days' notice is ideal and gives you the best pick of time slots. Same-day service is available when the schedule allows — call or text (682) 413-8998 to check. Same-day is $500 flat when available.
A little goes a long way. Clear the work area so Hank can get right to it. Have any materials you're supplying (faucet, light fixture, furniture boxes) ready and in the right room. Secure pets so they're out of the work area. If it's a TV mount, know roughly where you want the TV positioned. That's about it — Hank handles the rest.
Yes. Hank texts or calls on his way so you're not caught off guard. You'll have a heads-up before he's at the door. If you have specific instructions for arrival, note them when booking and he'll see them.
Yes. HandyHawk is available Monday through Saturday, 8am–7pm. Saturday slots tend to fill up faster, so book early if you have a weekend preference.
24 hours' notice = no charge, full flexibility to reschedule. Less than 24 hours may result in a cancellation fee since that time slot can't be filled. We're always willing to work with you — just communicate and we'll find a solution. Text (682) 413-8998 directly if something comes up.

Trust & Safety

Yes. Every HandyHawk technician is background-checked before they ever step into a customer's home. You'll know your tech's name before they arrive, and you can reach us at any time if you have questions.
Yes. HandyHawk carries general liability insurance. If something unexpected happens on the job, you're covered. We don't cut corners on this.
Yes. If something isn't right after Hank leaves, he comes back and makes it right. No runaround, no fee for the return visit. This is how a local business with a reputation worth protecting has to operate — and how Hank runs it.
Call us immediately. HandyHawk carries liability insurance and takes damage seriously. Accidents are rare, but when something goes wrong we handle it directly — we don't dodge it. Document what happened, contact us at (682) 413-8998 or hello@handyhawk.net, and we'll get it resolved.

DIY-Related

Honest answer: a lot of home repairs are DIY-able for someone who's comfortable with basic tools and patient enough to follow instructions. Faucet swaps, simple shelf installation, furniture assembly, door adjustments — many homeowners handle these fine. Where it gets tricky: working around electrical, anything where a bad result causes water damage, jobs where a mistake is expensive to fix, or anything structural. When in doubt, call us and describe the job — we'll tell you straight.
Yes, and we mean it. If you describe the job and it sounds like something a reasonably handy person can handle safely, Hank will tell you that. HandyHawk's DIY policy is a feature, not a flaw — customers who get honest guidance today call us for the jobs they can't do tomorrow. No pressure to book what you don't need.
For standard jobs with known scope — TV mounting, ceiling fan install, furniture assembly, faucet replacement — no estimate needed. Pricing is transparent and flat-rate; you book, you know what it costs. For jobs with unclear scope (major drywall sections, outdoor projects, anything where the full extent of damage isn't known), Hank needs to see it in person. That visit is a paid appointment starting at $179. If it turns into a bigger job, it applies to the total. No one gives accurate estimates on jobs they haven't seen.

Hank's Corner

For when you've scrolled this far.

Hank says he appreciates the offer… but unfortunately, our techs can't pay their bills with pepperoni. Secure card payment works best.
We're used to it. Hank himself has been barked at more than a few times. We just ask that pets be safely secured — especially if they don't like tape measures.
Only if the argument was about uneven shelves or missing wall anchors.
Hank stares silently from a distance with one wing folded. Just kidding. But seriously — let's keep things smooth by handling payments upfront.
